Job Summary
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) will implement an individual patient therapy care plan under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist. Responsibilities include administering active and passive manual therapies and modalities (if certified), instructing clients in functional transfers and activities of daily living, observing and reporting on patient progress, fitting and training residents in the use of wheelchairs and adaptive equipment, collaborating with the Interdisciplinary Team, orienting new staff, handling clerical duties, documenting patient progress, and ensuring the rehab gym and equipment are kept clean and safe. Must hold an active COTA license in Florida, have 2 years of SNF/LTC experience, possess a valid Florida driver’s license and reliable transportation, strong English communication, and be able to meet the physical demands of the role on a flexible schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Active COTA license in the state of Florida
- 2 years of SNF / LTC experience
- Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance in Florida
- 2 years of experience with the frail and elderly
- Reliable transportation to meet visit schedule
- Ability to use equipment with visual and auditory mechanisms
- Ability to effectively communicate in English
- Flexible schedule to meet the needs of participants
- Ability to physically access any home (lifting, bending, kneeling, etc.) with or without reasonable accommodation
