Job Summary
Provide school-based occupational therapy services under the supervision of a Licensed Occupational Therapist. Deliver targeted, evidence-based interventions to support student participation and occupational performance within the school environment, guided by IEP goals. Responsibilities include collaborating with the school-based team, adapting environments and materials (including assistive technology), educating students, staff, and families, and documenting services to ensure accountability. Maintain professional standards, comply with applicable laws and policies, participate in multidisciplinary meetings, and contribute to ongoing professional development to enhance student learning.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program recognized by NBCOT
- NBCOT-recognized OTA program completion
- Virginia Board of Medicine Occupational Therapy Assistant license (or license required)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to transport to varied school sites
- Physical ability to perform essential OTA tasks (standing, walking, lifting 20-50 lbs, transfers, etc.)
- Familiarity with IEP planning and implementation; ability to document and communicate with teachers, families, and staff
