Job Summary
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) providing acute therapy services under supervision. Delivers patient-centered, occupation-based interventions, adjusts activities based on patient response and evaluator guidance, documents communications and treatment modifications, collaborates with patients, families, and the care team, and educates patients, families, and other health care providers using effective methods. Utilizes standardized outcomes measures, ensures accurate documentation, participates in quality improvement activities, and communicates patient progress to the team, including discharge planning and equipment needs. Works within the Occupational Therapy team and adheres to program requirements (e.g., DNV Hip and Knee Program when applicable).
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree (OT) or equivalent
- Licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) - IL IDFPR
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA
- 1+ years of work experience in occupational therapy
- Follows therapist's plan of care with documentation and communication in daily notes
- Implements patient-centered, occupation-based intervention plans
- Education for patients, families, caregivers, and other staff
- Collaboration with occupational therapist (OTR) and healthcare team
- Accurate documentation to support decisions and payer information
- Participation in quality of service delivery activities
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and discharge planning
