Job Summary
Provide occupational therapy services to optimize patient health outcomes under the supervision of an occupational therapist. Manage technical, environmental, and financial resources while ensuring documentation adheres to professional and regulatory guidelines. Deliver safe, timely, and equitable treatment interventions that recognize cultural factors and incorporate evidence-based practice. Collaborate with physical therapists for referrals and contribute to establishing patient-centered goals and treatment plans. Maintain infection control standards, promote safety culture by reporting errors, and complete required education and competency training. Work schedules meet patient care needs, including weekends and holidays, with a minimum of 0.5 FTE or one shift per month for per-diem roles.
Required Qualifications
- State of Wisconsin Driver's License
- State of Wisconsin Professional licensure for Occupational Therapy Assistant
- Associate degree in Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
- One (1) year of recent experience as a licensed COTA
- CPR/BLS Certification
- Valid Auto Insurance
- Reliable vehicle transportation
- 0.5 FTE minimum scheduled role
- One (1) shift/month minimum work expectation for per-diem role
- Weekend and holiday availability
- Recognition of cultural factors impacting treatment and plan of care
- Ability to educate patients regarding environmental constraints, learning barriers, and cultural factors
- Collaboration with supervising Physical Therapist for referrals
- Understanding and adherence to safety procedures, precautions, and contraindications
- Contribution to establishment and/or modification of patient/family-centered goals and treatment plans
- Utilization of resources to incorporate evidence-based practice into clinical decision making
- Completion of initial and ongoing organizational and department education, training, and competency requirements
- Understanding and demonstration of organizational infection control guidelines (CDIC)
- Focus on improving processes and championing efficiency in daily work activities
- Promotion of a culture of safety with accountability for individual actions
- Prompt reporting of errors or near misses via the organization's occurrence reporting system
- Participation in developing improved safety processes
Desired Qualifications
- Experience and strong knowledge base in home health
- Familiarity with patient care processes and equipment specific to the COTA role
