Job Summary
Treat patients with disorders prohibiting self-care to enhance independence in daily life skills under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist. Prepare detailed documentation of treatment, length of service, and progress toward outcomes identified in the plan of care. Follow through on therapy plans tailored to the individual needs of a diverse population, including short- and long-term goals. Educate patients, parents, and caregivers regarding functional delays, causes, and treatment plans. Report patient progress and current status to families, caregivers, or medical professionals. Team with parents, caregivers, or other therapists during sessions as appropriate, and make referrals for additional services when needed.
Required Qualifications
- An Occupational Therapy Assistant must have at least an Associates Degree from an accredited establishment
- passed their exams administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy
- Thorough understanding of pediatric occupational delays, causes and treatments
- Excellent communication skills: oral and written
- An individual who thrives on being part of a team, working alongside other disciplines, as needed
