Job Summary
This role assists the Occupational Therapist in the preparation of patients for treatment, performs certain occupational therapy procedures, maintains equipment, and communicates between the rehab department and customers. Responsibilities include assisting with tests, evaluations, and developing treatment plans; treating patients per plan; communicating with patient, family, and multidisciplinary team members; monitoring patient response; completing required documentation; promoting efficient resource use; and supporting the Inpatient Rehab Manager in orientation, training, and evaluation of employees.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an American Occupational Therapy Association Occupational Therapy Assistant Education Program required
- Licensed as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in the State of Iowa required
- Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Provider-American Heart Association or Professional Rescuer-American Red Cross) prior to employment or within 30 days of hire and maintains current status
- Must provide proof of Mandatory Reporting for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training prior to employment or within 6 months of hire and maintain current status per State of Iowa guidelines
- Prefer demonstrated competence in an acute care setting for at least one year
- Ability to communicate with patient and instruct them in exercise programs
