Job Summary
Provide direct occupational therapy services to patients, including treatment training, equipment recommendations, ADL evaluations, and discharge planning under the direct supervision of a licensed occupational therapist. Deliver evidence-based care while demonstrating sound clinical reasoning to maximize safe outcomes. Complete accurate and timely documentation of clinical interventions, charges, and prescriptions following department policies. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and participate in staff conferences to support process improvement and patient care. Serve as a clinical resource and preceptor for new employees and students, while pursuing continuing education for professional growth. This role supports the Occupational Therapy Service at Medstar NRH, focusing on outpatient rehabilitation needs.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- OTA - Occupational Therapist Assistant Maryland District of Columbia (DC) and/or Virginia licensure
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days
- Professional competency as an Occupational Therapy Assistant
- Demonstrated independent use of varied treatment approaches
- Demonstrated independence of varied evaluation under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist
Desired Qualifications
- 1-2 years clinical experience in an inpatient rehabilitation setting
