Job Summary
Conduct ongoing evaluations of patients' functional status and home environments as delegated by the registered occupational therapist. Teach new skills or retrain patients in daily activities lost due to illness or injury, and document responses to treatment plans and progress toward established goals. Maintain clinical records, reports, and communication logs while coordinating care through case conferences and meetings with other personnel. Identify needs for additional home care services and consult with supervisors for necessary referrals. Operate under direct supervision of the registered occupational therapist, with documentation reflecting ongoing communication and patient outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Must be licensed where the HHA is located if licensure is required
- Must have graduated from an OT assistant program accredited by the ACOTE of the AOTA or any successor organization of the ACOTE
- Must be eligible for or have taken the OT assistant certification examination administered by the NBCOT
- A minimum of one year of clinical experience as a certified occupational therapy assistant
- Demonstrates good verbal and written communication
- Demonstrates good organization skills
- Possesses and maintains current CPR certification
- Must be a licensed driver
- Must have an automobile that is insured in accordance with state or organization requirements
- Must have an automobile that is in good working order
