Job Summary
Evaluate patient functional status including muscle function, endurance, and self-care ability as delegated by the registered occupational therapist. Assess home environments for hazards or barriers to independent living. Teach new skills or retrain patients in daily activities lost due to illness or injury. Document patient responses to treatment plans and progress toward established goals. Maintain clinical records, communicate with care team members, and contribute to case conferences. Identify needs for additional home care services and assist with referrals. Operate under supervision by a registered occupational therapist with no less than thirty-day intervals.
Required Qualifications
- Must be licensed where the HHA is located if licensure is required
- Must have graduated from an OT assistant program accredited by the ACOTE of the AOTA or any successor organization of the ACOTE
- Must be eligible for or have taken the OT assistant certification examination administered by the NBCOT
- A minimum of one year of clinical experience as a certified occupational therapy assistant
- Demonstrates good verbal and written communication, and organization skills
- Possesses and maintains current CPR certification
- The ability to drive and/or have access to transportation for agency related travel
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license
- Maintain automobile insurance coverage
- Have access to an automobile
