Job Summary

Implement occupational therapy treatment plans under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist, delivering skilled interventions targeting ADLs, IADLs, neuromuscular re-education, and cognitive retraining. Monitor patient performance, report progress to the supervising OT, and assist in collecting data for plan-of-care updates. Instruct patients and caregivers on home programs and safe equipment use while assisting with transfers, positioning, and therapeutic handling. Support discharge planning, communicate with interdisciplinary team members, and complete compliant documentation of sessions. Adhere to California state law and organizational policies regarding supervision, HIPAA, and infection control.

Required Qualifications

  • Current, active, and unrestricted Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant license in the State of California
  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
  • Successful completion of the NBCOT examination for Occupational Therapy Assistants
  • Current CPR/BLS certification with AHA
  • Ongoing compliance with continuing education requirements established by the California Occupational Therapy Board
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated maturity, composure, and professionalism in dynamic, fast-paced clinical environments
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under supervision
  • A team-first mindset and a genuine passion for skilled nursing and post-acute care
  • The ability to assist with patient transfers, upper extremity positioning and therapeutic handling, lifting and repositioning patients with or without assistive devices, prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, and stair navigation
  • The ability to assist in resident evacuation during emergency situations

Desired Qualifications

  • Willingness to obtain CPR/BLS certification with AHA per facility policy
