Job Summary
Conduct patient assessments, interview individuals about health problems and medication history, and take vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, respiration, and weight. Perform routine procedures such as phlebotomy, EKGs, dressing changes, and wound cultures under established protocols. Document medical history, assist with Activities of Daily Living skills, and provide basic wound care and patient education. Observe and report changes in patients' physical or mental health to nurses while maintaining confidentiality. This part-time role involves 16 hours weekly on evening or night shifts at the Kilby Correctional Facility in Montgomery, AL. New grads are encouraged to apply as training is provided.
Required Qualifications
- CNA Certification - Completion of an accredited CNA training program and passing a state-approved competency exam
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- BLS CPR and first aid certification (AHA required)
- Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
- Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods
- Must have the ability to lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
- Must have the ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift
- Part-time (16 hours on week on the evening or night shift)
