Job Summary

Assist physicians and medical professionals with patient examinations, taking vital signs, and performing routine procedures including phlebotomy, EKGs, and wound care. Document medical histories and provide basic wound care, laboratory tests, and patient education while observing and reporting changes in physical or mental health. Support Activities of Daily Living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility under the supervision of a registered nurse within a secure correctional environment.

Required Qualifications

  • CNA Certification - Completion of an accredited CNA training program and passing a state-approved competency exam
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • BLS CPR and first aid certification (AHA required)
  • Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must have the ability to stand for long periods
  • Must have the ability to lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
  • Must have the ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift
  • Must be able to obtain BLS CPR and first aid certification (AHA required)
