Job Summary

Conduct bathing, toileting, transfer, and mobility assistance for residents while supporting their dignity, privacy, and independence. Assist with instrumental activities of daily living, environmental orientation, and other care needs as outlined in resident service plans. Maintain clean, safe environments, observe changes in resident status, and communicate updates to nurses or designated agents. Adhere to infection control procedures, fire safety protocols, and all established policies. Review assignments with the designated supervisor, read staff communication records, and receive shift reports from the previous team.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED
  • CNA is required by the state
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Able to read, write, and verbally communicate in English
  • Completion of Certified Nursing Assistant program with current license
  • 18 – 24 months experience in a similar position
  • Attendance at mandatory in-service training
  • Maintain CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Meet in-service training hours required for job classification and position
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and follows infection control procedures
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to procedures for fire, life safety, disaster, security, work, safety, and other emergency situations
  • Adheres to and conveys philosophy of supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for Resident
  • Receives and gives report from the previous shift
  • Reviews assignments with Designated Supervisor
  • Reads the staff communication records and maintains familiarity with Resident records as required
  • Assists with instrumental activities of daily living, ADL's, environmental orientation, assistance with other care while encouraging self-care and independence
  • Provides services as indicated on Resident service plans, including but not limited to bathing assistance, toileting assistance, transfer, and mobility assistance
  • Observes changes in Resident status, needs, or preferences and communicates them appropriately
  • Adheres to all established policies and procedures
  • Records Resident information as required
  • Notifies nurse, and/or designated agent(s) of Resident status/change as appropriate
  • Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for Residents, staff, and visitors

Desired Qualifications

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role is preferred
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred
