Job Summary
Assist residents with activities of daily living, including lifting, turning, moving, and toileting, while coordinating dining room services and delivering nutritional supplements. Monitor resident conditions by tracking skin integrity, weighing patients, and documenting progress on daily flow sheets. Report changes in resident status, pressure areas, or refusals to the nurse and supervisor immediately. Complete assigned training, attend care-plan meetings, and participate in QAPI activities as needed. Adhere to all facility policies, infection control measures, and safety protocols while maintaining patient confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Current Food Handler Permit (when applicable)
- Must have no disciplinary action in effect against certification
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public
- Must have patience, tact, and willingness to deal with difficult patients, family and staff
- Must be able to relay information concerning a resident's condition
- Must not pose a threat to the health and safety of other individuals in the workplace
- Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday
- Meets general health requirements according to facility policy, including medical and physical exams and checking immunity status to various infectious diseases
- Ability to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary
- Ability to assist in evacuation of patients during emergency situations
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, perform overhead lifting and perform other common physical movements as needed for the position
- Ability to walk, stand, sit, bend, and stoop for extended periods
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to perform resident care
- Ability to lift, move, push or pull a minimum of 35 pounds
- Ability to work beyond assigned working hours, including weekends and holidays, when necessary
Desired Qualifications
- Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing with the state (preferred, not required)
- Skilled Nursing or Assisted Living Facility: At least one year of experience as a certified nursing assistant in a SNF or ALF is preferred, not required
