Job Summary
Support the plan of care as delegated by staff nurses within your scope of skills verification while maintaining a clean and safe environment in the patient care area. Provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the ages of patients served, adapting your behavior to the specific patient population. Communicate patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and multi-disciplinary teams, and complete documentation of patient-related tasks. Maintain constant observation of patients, notifying nursing personnel of changes in behavior or status and intervening as needed to maintain patient safety. Perform all functions delegated by nurse staff, adhere to policies and procedures, and remain knowledgeable on current federal, state, and local laws and accreditation standards.
Required Qualifications
- Current state of practice Certification as a Nurses' Assistant (CNA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association to be obtained within 30 days from hire
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) to be obtained within 30 days from hire
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability)
- Ability to lift 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally
- Ability to lift 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently
- Ability to lift greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly
- Ability to move objects
- Ability to work in an area where patients enter
- Ability to work directly with patients
- Ability to work with specimens that could contain communicable diseases
- Knowledge of current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility
- Ability to ensure compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards
- Ability to report any known or suspected unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct
- Ability to report patient/employee safety concerns
- Ability to report patient privacy concerns
- Ability to report other compliance-related concerns
- Ability to work in a healthcare setting
- Ability to handle exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
- Ability to handle exposure to hazardous medications
- Ability to handle exposure to hazardous waste

Desired Qualifications
