Job Summary
Support the plan of care as delegated by staff nurses within your scope of skills verification while maintaining a clean and safe environment in the patient care area. Provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the ages of patients served, adapting your behavior to the specific patient population. Communicate patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and multi-disciplinary teams, and complete documentation of patient-related tasks. Monitor patients constantly, notify nursing personnel of changes in behavior or status, and intervene as needed to maintain patient safety. Perform other related duties as assigned while adhering to policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Current state of practice Certification as a Nurses' Assistant (CNA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI)
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability)
- Ability to lift 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally
- Ability to lift 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently
- Ability to lift greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly
- Ability to move objects
- Ability to work in an area where patients enter
- Ability to work directly with patients
- Ability to work with specimens that could contain communicable diseases
- Ability to work with hazardous medications or hazardous waste
- Ability to comply with all federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements
- Ability to report any known or suspected unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct
- Ability to ensure patient/employee safety
- Ability to ensure patient privacy
- Ability to ensure compliance with all compliance-related concerns
- Ability to reside in and work in Louisiana (excluding Colorado, California, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington, and Washington D.C.)
Desired Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Hospital and telemetry experience
