Job Summary

Provide direct care to terminally ill patients and their families by performing personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, oral care, shaving, and hair shampooing. Monitor vital signs, manage skin and colostomy care, and assist with toileting, positioning, and range of motion activities. Prepare meals, perform basic housekeeping and laundry, and offer companionship while following an individualized plan of care established by the interdisciplinary team. Report any changes in patient condition or pain complaints to the RN Case Manager immediately and complete all required documentation at the bedside. Maintain professional relationships with co-workers and patients while adhering to confidentiality policies and attending scheduled staff meetings.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently certified as a Certified Nurse Aide by the State Board of Nursing in the State of Nevada
  • Must be able to demonstrate basic CNA qualifications and successfully pass initial direct and indirect supervision competency items prior to direct care with a patient
  • CPR/First Aid Certified
  • Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language
  • Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance
  • Must be able to handle frequent interruptions
  • Must be able to cope with emotionally charged situations encompassing, patients, families, and other caregivers
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be able to carry up to 20 lbs
  • Must be able to go up and down stairs
  • Must utilize appropriate durable medical equipment as needed in a safe manner
  • Must use appropriate body mechanics for CNA duties as identified in the scope of practice
  • Must be able to go up and down stairs carrying up to 20 lbs
  • Successful completion of a background check pursuant to NRS 449.188 and NRS 179A.100 along with a pre-employment drug screen and physical, TB testing, previous employment and reference checking, and an MVR (may include verification of education)

Desired Qualifications

  • 1 year experience as a CNA in hospice or home health or geriatric care
