Job Summary

Conduct direct patient care for residents, including personal hygiene, bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming, and food service. Respond promptly to call lights, evaluate resident needs, and notify nurses for medical interventions. Chart and document care plans, vital signs, and activity participation while maintaining skin integrity and infection control protocols. Safeguard resident privacy, report abuse or neglect immediately, and assist with transporting residents to activities. Maintain a clean, safe environment and interact positively with residents, families, and staff to promote dignity and comfort.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited CNA course
  • Current CPR registration
  • Knowledge of the geriatric population in life community settings
  • Physical condition allowing for normal CNA duties including but not limited to; lifting (up to 50 lbs.), bending, stooping, kneeling, sitting, reaching, grabbing, pushing, pulling, standing or walking an entire shift, use of arms and hands with dexterity to aide residents and give treatments, ability to read labels, nursing orders and care plans
  • Ability to manage stress and maintain a high energy level
  • Computer knowledge necessary to perform work duties
  • Ability to communicate in a friendly manner to residents and coworkers in English
  • Ability to perform a variety of activities and to adapt to a quickly changing environment as it relates to resident care
  • Ability to show warmth, love and compassion and to make residents feel comfortable
  • Comfort in working in a Christian Retirement Center environment
  • Ability to use tactful, appropriate, communications, in sensitive and emotional situations
  • Adherence to attendance policy, understanding residents' needs for 24/7 care
  • Adherence to all regulations specified in the Fairhaven employee handbook, procedures and policy documents
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of Illinois state approved Nursing Assistant Training Program
  • Per CNA regulations, may not be employed more than 120 days prior to successful completion of the CNA program
  • Fairhaven approved uniform must be worn
