Job Summary
Support the plan of care as delegated by staff nurses within the scope of skills verification while maintaining a clean and safe environment in the patient care area. Provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned areas. Communicate patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and multi-disciplinary teams, and complete documentation of patient-related tasks. Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including respecting privacy and adjusting explanations of services or procedures. Perform all functions delegated by nursing staff and adhere to policies and procedures under direct supervision. Maintain constant observation of patients and notify nursing personnel of changes in behavior or status.
Required Qualifications
- Current Louisiana Certification as a Nurses' Assistant (CNA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association to be obtained within 30 days from hire
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) to be obtained within 30 days from hire
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability)
- Frequently exerting 10 to 20 pounds of force to move objects
- Occasionally exerting up to 100 pounds of force
Desired Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Hospital and telemetry experience
