Job Summary
Provide non-professional routine nursing care to residents in accordance with facility and state guidelines, including bathing, grooming, oral care, and incontinence management. Perform procedures for special care needs such as catheter care, skin care, and turning/positioning while assisting with admissions, discharges, and room transfers. Obtain pertinent resident information, recognize physical distress, and report symptoms or abuse to supervisors immediately. Maintain resident care plans, encourage self-care participation, and provide diversional activities. Clean and sanitize client areas, including changing bed sheets, while adhering to infection control procedures and regulatory rules. Perform vital signs, obtain heights and weights, and participate in care plan updates. Work flexible shifts, including PM differential, with a focus on resident rights, safety, and team communication.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a graduate of an 80-120 hour nursing assistant course
- registered to practice in the state of Wisconsin as a Certified Nursing Assistant
- Ability to think and work independently and with direction
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
- Must have no lifting or bending restrictions
- Must have an acceptable criminal background check
- Must be flexible in work assignments, and especially during a staffing emergency willing to work in other areas if needed
- Must be able to: Stand and walk for long periods of time
- Frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, twist, and reach with hands and arms
- Manually lift 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
- Previous experience in a health care facility is desired
- Good communication skills and bedside manner with a compassionate personality
- Willingness to work with all team players
