Job Summary
Deliver meals, provide personal hygiene care including baths and oral care, and assist with mobility, dressing, and toileting for residents. Check vital signs, document daily information in charts, and operate medical equipment like wheelchairs and mechanized beds. Identify safety hazards, respond promptly to call lights, and report resident condition changes immediately to the Staff Nurse. Practice infection control, maintain proper body mechanics during lifts, and support social functions and the Eden Alternative Program. Work flexible shifts including weekends, evenings, and days, reporting directly to nursing staff while adhering to facility policies and OSHA standards.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- Must have completed an approved training program and passed competency examinations in clinical skills and written knowledge in accordance with statutory requirements for Certified Nurse Assistant
- Must be enrolled in and complete an approved training program and pass competency examinations in clinical skills and written knowledge within 120 days of employment in accordance with statutory requirements
- Must demonstrate a moderate level of computer literacy in order to use and access our systems and tools within our facilities to complete online tasks and documentation
- Must be able to effectively communicate and interact professionally with staff and residents
- Must possess comprehensive knowledge of good resident care practices
- Must understand the facility's Exposure Control Plan
- Must be able to explain how to perform procedures involving exposure to visible blood contamination and when to defer tasks and procedures involving exposure to visible blood contamination and reasonably anticipated blood contamination as designated in the Exposure Control Plan
- Must be able to stoop, bend, stand and walk most of an eight-hour shift
- Must be able to lift, push, and carry 40 pounds with 2 hands
- Must also be able to lift, push, and carry 20 pounds with 1 hand
- Must be willing and able to work a flexible shift
- Must be able to perform the full range of job functions as outlined in this description
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in a Skilled Nursing or Long-term Care environment is preferred
