Job Summary
Assist patients with activities of daily living, including ambulation, positioning, skin care, feeding, and hygiene. Collect and process specimens, obtain vital signs, and communicate patient status changes to licensed professionals. Perform designated procedures such as incentive spirometry, transport, EKGs, and post-mortem care while maintaining and cleaning equipment. Manage unit phones, enter data into electronic medical systems, and coordinate supply needs. Report equipment malfunctions and assist in emergency situations. This role requires a CNA license, BLS certification, and the ability to work irregular hours including evenings, nights, and weekends.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- CNA license issued by the Commonwealth of VA
- AHA BLS Provider CPR
- CPI (within 90 days of hire for CNAs working at Snowden at Fredericksburg)
- Ability to lift 35 lbs
- Ability to push and pull 20 lbs
- Auditory and visual skills to include color determination
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Ability to reach above/overhead
- Critical thinking and analytical skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team
- Capacity to cope with difficult situations
- Ability to tolerate irregular hours including evenings, nights, and weekends
- Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment
- Driving requirements (for Clinical positions in Mary Washington Home Health and/or Hospice)
