Job Summary
Assist patients with routine activities of daily living, including ambulation, positioning, skin care, feeding, and hygiene. Collect and process patient data, specimens, and vital signs while communicating status changes to licensed professionals. Perform delegated procedures such as incentive spirometry, transport, specimen collection, and post-mortem care. Maintain equipment, perform suctioning, and manage supplies. Answer unit phones, enter data into electronic systems, and coordinate equipment needs. Collaborate with the patient care team and rehab therapists to facilitate efficient department services.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- CNA license issued by the Commonwealth of VA
- AHA BLS Provider CPR
- At least one year of acute care experience
- Six months of acute care experience if currently enrolled in a full time RN program and have completed at least one clinical semester
- Ability to lift 35 lbs
- Ability to push and pull 20 lbs
- Auditory and visual skills to include color determination
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Ability to reach above/overhead
- Critical thinking and analytical skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team
- Capacity to cope with difficult situations
- Ability to tolerate irregular hours including evenings, nights, and weekends
- Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment
