Job Summary
Assist patients with activities of daily living, including range of motion, ambulation, positioning, skin care, feeding, and hygiene. Obtain and record vital signs, specimens, and pain assessments while communicating patient status changes to licensed professionals. Perform delegated procedures such as incentive spirometry, transport, suctioning, blood sugar checks, and post-mortem care. Manage clerical duties by answering unit phones, entering data into electronic systems, and coordinating equipment needs. Maintain and clean medical equipment while adhering to competency-based standards and collaborating with the patient care team.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- CNA license issued by the Commonwealth of VA
- AHA BLS Provider CPR
- CPI (within 90 days of hire for CNAs working at Snowden at Fredericksburg)
- Ability to lift 35 lbs
- Ability to push and pull 20 lbs
- Auditory and visual skills to include color determination
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Ability to reach above/overhead
- Critical thinking and analytical skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team
- Capacity to cope with difficult situations
- Ability to tolerate irregular hours including evenings, nights, and weekends
- Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment
- Driving requirements (for Clinical positions in Mary Washington Home Health and/or Hospice)
