Job Summary
Perform personal care tasks including baths, oral hygiene, and bed linens for patients. Assist with dressing, feeding, medication reminders, and ambulation as assigned. Monitor vital signs and skin integrity, reporting changes to the Case Manager. Maintain clean living areas and provide respite for families when on-site. Adhere to documentation standards and participate in quality improvement teams. Work Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM in Aroostock, Penobscot, and Piscatiquis Counties. Must be a certified CNA in Maine with CPR certification and a valid driver's license.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant in Maine
- Must have completed a minimum of 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training
- Licensed driver with automobile that is insured in accordance with organization/state requirements and is in good working order
- Willingness to submit to a criminal background check prior to hire and annually thereafter
- Current CPR certification
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred to have one (1) year experience in community health/hospice or medical/surgical environments
- An Understanding of hospice philosophy and comfortable providing specialized care to the terminally ill
- Ability to work autonomously with little direct supervision
- Successfully demonstrate tact, patience and good personal hygiene
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Strong organizational skills
- Understanding of plan of care documentation
- Flexible in work hours to ensure the patients receive care as provided in the plan of care
- Ability to empathize with the needs of the ill, injured, frail and impaired
- Comfortable addressing issues of death/dying
- Calm demeanor when entering the patients home
