Job Summary
Perform personal care needs, including baths, oral hygiene, and dressing assistance, while maintaining patient safety with proper equipment use. Provide positive communication, monitor vital signs, and assess skin integrity to prevent tissue breakdown. Assist with feeding, ambulation, transfers, and medication reminders as directed by the hospice nurse. Maintain clean living areas, prepare nutritious meals, and offer respite to family caregivers when on-site. Adhere to documentation standards and participate in quality improvement teams. Report significant condition changes and interpersonal issues to the Case Manager immediately. Requires Maine CNA certification, 75 hours of training, current CPR, and a licensed driver's license. Full-time Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. Bristol Hospice offers tuition reimbursement, PTO, and comprehensive health benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant in Maine
- Must have completed a minimum of 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training
- Licensed driver with automobile that is insured in accordance with organization/state requirements and is in good working order
- Willingness to submit to a criminal background check prior to hire and annually thereafter
- Current CPR certification
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred to have one (1) year experience in community health/hospice or medical/surgical environments
- An Understanding of hospice philosophy and comfortable providing specialized care to the terminally ill
- Ability to work autonomously with little direct supervision
- Successfully demonstrate tact, patience and good personal hygiene
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Strong organizational skills
- Understanding of plan of care documentation
- Flexible in work hours to ensure the patients receive care as provided in the plan of care
- Ability to empathize with the needs of the ill, injured, frail and impaired
- Comfortable addressing issues of death/dying
- Calm demeanor when entering the patients home
