Job Summary

Coordinate and deliver patient care services under direct supervision of the Shift Supervisor or Med/Surg RN. Observe, collect, and document patient information while promptly reporting significant condition changes to a registered nurse or physician. Assist patients with routine activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, feeding, and ambulation as outlined in the plan of care. Maintain a clinical work environment by cleaning areas, changing linens, monitoring supply levels, and transporting patients or specimens. Provide treatments such as vital sign monitoring, specimen collection, catheter care, glucose checks, and range-of-motion exercises. Support patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge processes. Perform essential CNA functions, participate in the interdisciplinary care team, and adhere to OMC policies and competency assessments. Work in a high-acuity, fast-paced med/surg unit environment with 8-12 hour shifts requiring heavy lifting and physical stamina.

Required Qualifications

  • Nursing Assistant with current Wisconsin Certification or the ability to obtain prior to the start date
  • BLS certified
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs independently or with assistance, including moving patients from beds to wheelchairs, toilets, or stretchers
  • Standing and walking for 8-12 hour shifts, with frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing, and pulling
  • Strong upper body and back muscles to support patients, reposition them in bed, and assist with daily living activities
  • High level of dexterity for tasks like taking blood pressure, changing bandages, feeding, and grooming
  • Acute vision (including depth perception and close/distance vision) and hearing to monitor patient safety, detect changes in condition, and understand instructions
