Job Summary
Provide certified nursing assistant services to assigned patients in accordance with care plans, facility policies, and procedures. Assist residents with activities of daily living, including lifting, turning, moving, and transporting them between beds, chairs, bathtubs, and wheelchairs. Coordinate dining room services, deliver nutritional supplements, and document meal intake and weight changes. Monitor resident skin condition, report pressure areas or breakdowns, and support nursing staff in toileting programs. Complete daily flow sheets, document resident progress, and report changes in condition or factors interfering with work assignment. Treat patients with dignity, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to infection control policies while participating in emergency drills and safety trainings.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Current Food Handler Permit (when applicable)
- Must have no disciplinary action in effect against certification
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public
- Must have patience, tact, and willingness to deal with difficult patients, family and staff
- Must be able to relay information concerning a resident's condition
- Must not pose a threat to the health and safety of other individuals in the workplace
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
- Meets general health requirements according to facility policy, including medical and physical exams and checking immunity status to various infectious diseases
- Ability to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary
- Ability to assist in evacuation of patients during emergency situations
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, perform overhead lifting and perform other common physical movements as needed for the position
- Ability to walk, stand, sit, bend, and stoop for extended periods
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to perform resident care
- Ability to lift, move, push or pull a minimum of 35 pounds
- Strong listening skills and ability to deal with conflict with professionalism and courtesy
- Basic computer skills, including ability to navigate electronic medical record systems
- Positive interpersonal relationship skills, including with persons of all ages and cultures
Desired Qualifications
- Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing with the state (preferred, not required)
- Skilled Nursing or Assisted Living Facility: At least one year of experience as a certified nursing assistant in a SNF or ALF is preferred, not required
