Job Summary
Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) based on individualized care plans, including making beds, maintaining hygiene, preparing for activities, and transporting them to appointments. Perform restorative procedures, monitor vital signs, and promptly answer resident calls while reporting condition changes to the Licensed Nurse. Provide meal assistance, post-meal care, and ensure room readiness, while completing required documentation and participating in shift reports. Adhere to OSHA, infection control, and HIPAA standards, attend mandatory training, and maintain a safe work environment.
Required Qualifications
- Completed and approved certified / licensed nursing assistant program
- Current Nursing Assistant certification/license in State of Connecticut
- Sufficient verbal and written communication skills to perform task required
- Ability to deal tactfully with residents, family members, visitors, government agencies / personnel, vendors, and the general public
- Ability to respect residents including those who have impaired cognition
- Ability to operate department specific equipment
- The employee is required to have a visual and hearing acuity with or without the aid of mechanical devices sufficient to assess resident safety and ability
- Maintains on-site regular attendance as scheduled
- Subject to facility mandating policy to ensure resident safety and care
- Maintains safe and clean work area and adheres to location / company safety standards for the healthcare professional
- Complies with all Infection Control, Standard Precautions and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional in accordance with state and federal regulation and Facility Policies and Procedures
- Adheres to location and company policy and procedures
- Adheres to established HIPAA confidentiality standards of patient / resident and client location information
- Ensures that all OSHA and safety standards are followed, as applicable to the position and in the business location or workplace
- Maintains a healthy work/life balance
- Encourage a spirit of cooperation and teamwork with co-workers
- Attends mandatory in-services and facility / department meeting as required
- Reports all complaints and grievances made by the resident to their supervisor
- Completes required documentation during / end of their shift
- Participates in change of shift report per facility procedures
- May participate in resident care plan conference
- Participates in required orientation and training programs, as required
- Complies with applicable legal requirements, standards, policies and procedures including but not limited to HIPAA
- Reports concerns and suspected incidences of non-compliance using to the Administrator
- Cooperates with monitoring and audit functions and investigations
- Participates, as requested, in process improvement responsibilities
- Maintains safe and clean work area and adheres to location / company safety standards for the healthcare professional
