Job Summary
Provide comprehensive primary care services independently to essentially healthy women in outpatient and inpatient settings, managing antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care from admission through discharge. Evaluate patients, perform physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests including limited ultrasound and non-stress tests, and independently manage normal labor and birth with vaginal deliveries. Collaborate with Obstetricians-Gynecologists for selected medical complications, prescribe medications, and perform procedures such as amniotomy, episiotomy repair, and fetal scalp electrode application. Participate in quality assurance programs, develop clinical practice guidelines, direct student midwives, and engage in community outreach and research activities.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree Midwifery education program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME)
- 2 years full-scope midwifery practice
- South Carolina Official Recognition Nurse Practitioner
- NLNP Certification from the National Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education - ACME
- South Carolina Prescriptive Authority
- South Carolina Controlled Substance license
- Federal DEA license
Desired Qualifications
- Limited 3rd trimester ultrasound and 1st trimester viability
- Experience, participation in Centering Pregnancy program
- In-hospital alternative birthing suite or free-standing birth center
