Job Summary
Evaluate patients' general and obstetrical health status, determine pregnancy status, and perform physical examinations including pap smears, breast, and pelvic exams. Independently manage low-risk women during antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods, co-managing higher-risk patients with MDs as appropriate. Provide standard maternity care, counseling, and antepartum classes while ordering lab and imaging studies. Prescribe contraception and teach family planning during the postpartum period. Requires Certified Nurse Midwife license in California, BLS, and DEA registration. On-call rotation applies.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Certified Nurse Midwife (California)
- Registered Nurse License (California)
- Nurse Midwife National Certification from American Midwifery Certification Board
- Drug Enforcement Administration Registration within 12 months of hire
- National Provider Identifier required at hire
- Basic Life Support required at hire
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment
Desired Qualifications
- Three (3) years of experience as a C.N.M. with in the last three (3) years preferred
- Current and valid California Nurse-Midwife furnishing certification (including any needed education in pharmacy) and didactic education and supervised clinical experience in third trimester limited obstetric ultrasound preferred OR to be obtained within one year of hire
