Job Summary
Independently manage care for low-risk women during antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods, including evaluating general and obstetrical health status, performing physical examinations, and administering pain management. Co-manage higher-risk patients with physicians as appropriate while providing counseling, teaching antepartum classes, and instituting preventative measures. Conduct medical screenings to diagnose labor, order lab and imaging studies, and consult ancillary services for abnormal findings. Prescribe contraception and provide health supervision during the postpartum period. Requires a Certified Nurse Midwife license, California RN license, and BLS certification. Kaiser Permanente conducts routine compensation reviews and may adjust job descriptions or pay status.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Certified Nurse Midwife (California)
- Registered Nurse License (California)
- Nurse Midwife National Certification from American Midwifery Certification Board
- Drug Enforcement Administration Registration within 12 months of hire
- National Provider Identifier required at hire
- Basic Life Support required at hire
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment
Desired Qualifications
- Three (3) years of experience as a C.N.M. with in the last three (3) years preferred
- Current and valid California Nurse-Midwife furnishing certification (including any needed education in pharmacy) and didactic education and supervised clinical experience in third trimester limited obstetric ultrasound preferred OR to be obtained within one year of hire
