Job Summary
Evaluate patient health status, determine pregnancy parameters, and perform physical examinations including pap smears and pelvic exams. Independently manage low-risk women through antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods while co-managing higher-risk cases with physicians. Provide counseling, teach antepartum classes, and institute preventative measures adhering to American College of Nurse Midwives standards and state regulations. Order lab and imaging studies as needed and consult ancillary services for abnormal findings. Requires Certified Nurse Midwife license, California RN license, and BLS certification.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Certified Nurse Midwife (California) required at hire
- Registered Nurse License (California) required at hire
- National Provider Identifier required at hire
- Basic Life Support required at hire
- Drug Enforcement Administration Registration within 12 months of hire
- Nurse Midwife National Certification required at hire from American Midwifery Certification Board
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment
Desired Qualifications
- Three (3) years of experience as a C.N.M. with in the last three (3) years preferred
- Current and valid California Nurse-Midwife furnishing certification (including any needed education in pharmacy) and didactic education and supervised clinical experience in third trimester limited obstetric ultrasound preferred OR to be obtained at midwifes expense within one year of hire
