Job Summary
Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene while changing linens, washing laundry, and maintaining a safe environment. Measure and report vital signs, intake & output, and observe health changes. Assist with feeding, hydration, ambulation, patient positioning, and administer basic treatments such as enemas, heat/ice packs, and non-sterile dressings. Support medication adherence, prepare meals according to dietary needs, and offer companionship. Accompany patients to medical appointments or errands as needed, document care, and communicate effectively with the nursing team. Provide post-mortem care as needed in hospice settings.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an approved CNA program
- Ability to lift up to 75–100 pounds and stand or walk for prolonged periods
- Must pass any required pre-employment screenings and background checks
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- At least 1 year of direct care experience preferred (hospice or home care a plus)
- Compassionate heart and a desire to make a difference
- Dependability and strong communication skills
- Comfort working with patients facing chronic illness or end-of-life care
- Willingness to assist in all aspects of care and maintain a respectful, dignified environment
