Job Summary
Provide compassionate and safe care for all Alegria residents under supervision, responding to needs promptly and professionally. Monitor resident vitals, record signs of illness, and recognize when medical intervention is required, including calling physicians or emergency services as needed. Assist with medication administration, weigh designated residents, and complete end-of-shift reports. Maintain housekeeping and laundry services, ensure safety hazards are removed, and conduct hourly house rounds. Answer phones professionally, relay messages accurately, and maintain resident confidentiality. Follow all policies, attend staff meetings and training, and demonstrate self-direction in prioritizing duties.
Required Qualifications
- High School education or the equivalent
- California Home Health Aid or Nursing Attendant Certification
- Basic information on blood borne infection and universal precautions including the use of protective devices
- Must pass criminal background check
- BCLS and Red Cross Certification
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Must be culturally sensitive and non-judgmental
- Knowledge and sensitivity regarding issues of homelessness and/or HIV/AIDS
- Basic knowledge of the care needs of HIV individuals
- Ability to work with diverse populations in a caring, sensitive, and non-judgmental manner
- The ability to read, write, speak and understands English
- CPR/First Aid Certification
