Job Summary
Provide basic patient care services including hygiene, bathing, and feeding functions under the direction of a licensed nurse. Recognize, obtain, and report appropriate data while obtaining vital signs and documenting findings. Communicate information to staff as required and maintain confidentiality of patient and unit care data. Handle access to minimal risk medications and IV fluids stored in patient care areas. Stand for up to twelve hours and lift up to 35 pounds, utilizing patient transfer devices for heavier loads. Work 36 weekly hours with occasional irregular hours and exposure to infectious, contagious, and blood-borne diseases.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Successfully completed the Certified Nursing Assistant program
- Patient Care Technician certificate
- Ability to stand up to twelve (12) hours

- Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances)
- Ability to read and interpret business or safety manuals, clinical or technical procedures or regulations
- Ability to write reports, correspondence and/or manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, patients, families, other employees and medical staff
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to multitask and prioritize assigned and assumed responsibilities to complete tasks as necessary
- Ability to understand and respond to the expectations and needs of patients, family members and visitors from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Must be able to handle emergency or crisis situations
- Is occasionally subject to irregular hours
