Job Summary
Hospice Music Therapist provides music therapy assessments and plans interventions for patients and families, guides creative therapeutic activities to improve or maintain mental and physical function and quality of life, and evaluates the effectiveness of music therapy services. Acts as a counselor in IDG meetings, participates in on-call rotations, assists with sign-ups and consents for new referrals, supports the bereavement program, and delivers in-services to staff and facilities as appropriate. Must be Board Certified MT-BC, hold a music degree with AMTA equivalent accreditation, be a licensed driver capable of travel to all business locations, and have a reliable automobile and insurance. Requires engagement with terminally ill patients/families and collaboration within interdisciplinary teams in a hospice setting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Music with a concentration in Music Therapy and/or Music Therapy from an AMTA approved university (or undergraduate equivalency program approved by AMTA)
- Board Certified as Music Therapist (MT-BC) by the Certification Board for Music Therapy (CBMT)
- Previous experience with terminally ill patients / families is highly desirable
- Must have reliable automobile, valid driver's license and minimum state-required liability auto insurance.
