Job Summary
Administer PRN medications, pour, pass, and document routine prescribed medications, and take vital signs prior to administration under the supervision of a licensed vocational or registered professional nurse. Document all activities according to State Standards, observe and report reactions and side effects, and count narcotics at the charge nurse's discretion. Administer oxygen via nasal channel or non-sealing face mask only in emergencies, immediately notifying the licensed nurse on duty or on call. Requires state-approved medication administration certification and current nursing assistant certification.
Required Qualifications
- Must have successfully completed state approved school of medication administration
- Must carry current acknowledgment card or certification issued by state agency
- Must be willing to abide by restrictions placed on his/her job by state agency
- Must be a certified nursing assistant
