Certified Medication Technician- Day Shift

Job Summary

Administer medications to residents as ordered by the attending physician, nurse supervisor, or Director of Nursing Services under facility policies. Accurately measure, record, and report vital signs, while documenting drug receipt errors with signed written reports and notifying the Charge Nurse of any adverse reactions. Note and report all medication administration errors, assist in developing procedures to determine error causes and prevent recurrence, and complete necessary forms, charts, and reports. Submit documentation of errors including observer/witness signatures as required. Maintain medication card practices and record orders in clinical records detailing type, route, dosage, frequency, and strength.

Required Qualifications

  • Must possess, as a minimum, a high school education or its equivalent.
  • Must be a licensed medication tech having successfully completed a state-approved training program and any necessary examination(s) in accordance with laws of this State.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to express self adequately in written and oral communication and to communicate effectively in an interdisciplinary care setting with residents, families, and staff members.
