Job Summary
Prepare, administer, store, and document oral and topical medications for patients during admission and readmission processes while ensuring no medication is given without a signed physician order. Assist in developing procedures to assess and prevent medication errors, reporting any incidents immediately. Perform CNA functions as directed, assist in patient evacuation, and chart appropriately in a timely manner. Maintain professional relationships, adhere to Life Care standards, and demonstrate dependability. Requires current CMT license, active CNA certification, and one year of geriatric nursing experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of a State approved CNA program
- Currently registered/licensed in applicable State
- Must maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment
- Completed a State approved program and exam for Certified Medication Technician
- CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation
- CPR certification must remain current during employment
- Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post acute care facility
- Implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department
- Perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to: patient rights, and safety and sanitation
- Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
- Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
- Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care's Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training
- Accurately and safely prepare, administer, store, and document the oral and/or topical medications that are commonly used in the facility as well as those which may be ordered by the attending physician
- Assist in developing and implementing procedures to assess potential medication errors; when, where, and why they occur; and how they can be prevented
- Report medication errors immediately
- Ensure that no medication is administered without a written, signed, and dated order from an attending physician
- Chart appropriately and in a timely manner
- Perform CNA functions as directed by supervisor
- Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients
- Assist in the evacuation of patients
- Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
- Concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment
- Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team
- Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours
- Read, write, speak, and understand the English language
Desired Qualifications
- One (1) year geriatric nursing experience preferred
