Job Summary
Administer PRN and regularly prescribed medications after authorization by a licensed nurse or physician, preparing and documenting all doses per state standards. Pour, pass, and document routine medications while observing and reporting resident reactions and side effects. Take and record vital signs prior to administration and administer oxygen via nasal channel or non-sealing face mask only in emergencies. Count narcotics at the charge nurse's discretion and notify the licensed nurse immediately following any emergency medication activity. Requires state-approved medication administration certification and current CNA license.
Required Qualifications
- Must have successfully completed state approved school of medication administration
- Must carry current acknowledgment card or certification issued by state agency
- Must be willing to abide by restrictions placed on his/her job by state agency
- Must be a certified nursing assistant
