Job Summary
Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under charge nurse supervision, including bathing, toileting, grooming, and vital signs collection. Administer prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse within scope of practice, documenting outcomes and communicating changes to the charge nurse. Assist with transfers, re-positioning, and range of motion exercises, while supporting wellness, recreational programs, and housekeeping duties. Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens and manage food preparation to ensure positive dining experiences. Maintain all required certifications, including CNA and state-approved Medication Aide training, and complete annual competency testing.
Required Qualifications
- Must be CNA and UMA certified
- Must have the state required certified/trained medication aide certification (CMA or TMA)
- Active certified nursing assistant registration in state of practice, or ability to obtain within 120 days, is required
- Must successfully complete the state approved Certified Medication Aide (CMA) course
- CMA certification must be maintained with the State Board of Nursing
- Must have nursing assistant certification
- Must have completed the 75-hour course
- Must be registered with the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry
- Successful completion of a state-approved Trained Medication Assistant course
- Must have a valid driver's license and auto insurance
- Must satisfactorily complete yearly department specific competency testing
- Must maintain a record of continuing education credits for each year
- A minimum of 12 hours continuing education are required annually based on state requirements
- Must maintain all department specific required certifications
- Must have a drug screen and pre-employment background screening as a condition of employment
Desired Qualifications
- High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required
- Minimum age of 18 preferred
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred
