Job Summary
Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned seniors under charge nurse supervision. Administer prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse, collect non-invasive body fluid specimens, and record vital signs. Assist with bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, transfers, and range of motion exercises while documenting outcomes related to care and medication. Support wellness and recreational programs, manage food preparation and dining, and maintain clean living areas. Requires CNA and UMA certification, with shifts varying between days and evenings.
Required Qualifications
- Must be CNA and UMA certified
- Must have the state required certified/trained medication aide certification (CMA or TMA)
- Active certified nursing assistant registration in state of practice, or ability to obtain within 120 days
- Must successfully complete the state approved Certified Medication Aide (CMA) course
- CNA certification must be maintained with the State Board of Nursing
- Successful completion of a state-approved Certified Medication Aide/Assistant course once CNA certification is obtained
- Must have nursing assistant certification
- Must have completed the 75-hour course
- Must be registered with the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry
- Must have a valid driver's license and auto insurance
- Must maintain all department specific required certifications
- Must satisfactorily complete yearly department specific competency testing
- Must maintain a record of continuing education credits for each year
- A minimum of 12 hours continuing education are required annually based on state requirements
- Must have a drug screen and pre-employment background screening as a condition of employment
Desired Qualifications
- High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required
- Minimum age of 18 preferred
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred
