Job Summary
Administer oral, inhalation, and topical medications to patients under direct supervision of a licensed nurse. Observe patients for drug reactions, calculate medication dosages, perform vital signs, and stock the medication cart. Record medication administration according to agency procedures and assist nurses in observing and reporting client needs. Recognize tasks based on education and training while accepting full responsibility for performance according to state laws. Maintain ethical, legal, and caring standards to protect client confidentiality and follow federal, state, and agency regulations. Work the 0545-1815 shift four times weekly at the Estelle Unit in Huntsville, TX. Must be willing to work as a CNA when all CMA work is completed.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Certified Medication Technician (CMT) certification/license
- 1+ year' experience with any of the following: Certified Medication Aide
- Valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) certification/license
- High school diploma
- At least one year of Health care industry experience
- Medication Aide certification
- Demonstrated experience with production of specialized materials and documents
- Proofreading and editing skills
- UTMB clearance documents
- Willingness to work as a CNA when all CMA work is done
