Job Summary
Administer oral and topical medications to residents under the direction of nursing staff, ensuring all orders are written, signed, and dated. Accurately measure, record, and report vital signs while verifying that ingested or applied medications match directives. Prepare, document, and manage medication inventory by examining new supplies, labeling items, and reordering discontinued drugs. Report errors and follow established guidelines for drug storage and administration. Complete necessary forms, charts, and reports while participating in resident assessments as needed. Requires a Certified Medication Aide license, high school diploma, and minimum six months of CNA experience.
Required Qualifications
- high school diploma
- licensed Certified Medication Aide
- successfully completed a state approved training program
- any necessary examination(s)
- Minimum of 6 months practicing as a Certified Nursing Assistant
- read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served
- ability to deal tactfully when personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public
- ability to follow oral and written instructions
- ability to work harmoniously with other personnel
- knowledgeable of computer systems, system applications, and other office equipment
- not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace
