Job Summary

Administer oral and topical medications to residents under physician orders while verifying resident identity and ensuring proper labeling and storage. Document all medication administration, refusals, and errors immediately, and assist with hygiene, toileting, and daily living activities. Maintain a clean medication cart, comply with facility safety policies, and report abuse allegations, hazardous exposures, or medication reactions to supervisors. Use personal protective equipment, assist with resident transfers, and evacuate residents during emergencies. Work beyond normal hours, weekends, and holidays as needed, and operate a motor vehicle if required for business purposes.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid CMA certification that is in good standing with the State
  • Valid CPR certification
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Ability to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary
  • Ability to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations
  • Ability to perform the essential position functions of the job with, or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to meet the general health requirements set forth by State regulations and Company policy which may include medical and physical examinations
  • Ability to use a transfer/gait belt or to obtain the assistance of another employee when attempting to assist residents when lifting or carrying objects in excess of 25 pounds
  • Ability to lift up to 10 lbs: Constantly

  • Ability to lift 26 to 50 lbs: Frequently
  • Ability to lift over 50 lbs: Frequently
  • Ability to carry up to 10 lbs: Constantly

  • Ability to carry over 50 lbs: Occasionally
  • Ability to reach above shoulder height: Frequently
  • Ability to reach at shoulder height: Constantly
  • Ability to reach below shoulder height: Constantly
  • Ability to push/pull: Constantly
  • Ability to grasp: Constantly
  • Ability to handle: Constantly
  • Ability to torque: Occasionally
  • Ability to finger: Occasionally
  • Ability to twist, bend, crawl, squat, kneel, crouch, climb and balance
  • Ability to operate an automobile and various games
  • Ability to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people within the Facility
  • Ability to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met
