Job Summary
Administer medications as prescribed by the resident's physician, document administration and effectiveness, and report adverse reactions or side effects to the Staff Nurse. Assist with daily living activities including bathing, dressing, and mobility, while obtaining and recording vital signs. Monitor equipment and supplies to ensure resident safety, maintaining accountability for all medication orders and change-of-shift counts. Work weekends and PRN shifts in a therapeutic, homelike assisted living environment.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
- Valid Certified Medication Aide (CMA) certification
- Experience in a Skilled Nursing or Long-term Care environment
- Must possess knowledge of safe medication administration technique
- Must demonstrate a moderate level of computer literacy
- Must be able to effectively communicate and interact professionally with staff and residents
- Must possess manual dexterity to handle delicate instruments and other equipment
- Must be able to obtain and record the resident's temperature, pulse, respiration rate and blood pressure
- Must be able to lift, stoop, carry, turn, and assist high-risk residents, and push medication carts
- Must be able to lift, push, and carry 40 pounds with 2 hands
- Must be able to lift, push, and carry 20 pounds with 1 hand
- Must be willing and able to work a flexible work schedule
- Must obtain continuing education credits as required by the state to maintain certification as a CMA
- Must be able to perform the full range of job functions as outlined in this description
