Job Summary
Certified Medication Aide administers prescribed medications and treatments per protocol, documents administration in the resident’s medication administration record, monitors vital signs prior to administration, observes and reports medication reactions or side-effects to the charge nurse, prepares medications, and assists with daily resident care tasks (bathing, feeding, dressing, transfers). Requires completing State Approved Medication Aide Training and maintaining good standing in the state registry; preferred one year of health care experience; complies with universal precautions and bloodborne pathogen rules; ensures proper medication setup, documentation, and nursing coordination as part of resident care.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- State Approved Medication Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program
- Good standing in the state registry
- One year health care experience (preferred)
- Knowledge of Universal Precautions and Blood Borne Pathogen rules
- Ability to follow medication administration protocols
- Documentation in Medication Administration Record (MAR)
- Ability to assist with daily resident care tasks (bathing, feeding, transferring)
- Oxygen administration in emergencies as needed
- Compliance with safety and infection control policies
