Job Summary
Administer prescribed medications and treatments under the direct supervision of the Health and Wellbeing Director, verifying resident identity and recording dosage, route, and time on specified forms. Provide personal care services including bed baths, skin care, positioning, and ambulation assistance in accordance with the assigned plan of care. Monitor vital signs, document unexpected reactions, and maintain accurate electronic medical records while adhering to Georgia state CMA registry requirements and quarterly competency reviews.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Successful completion of a state approved nursing assistant training program
- Successful completion of a state approved trained medication assistant program
- Good standing on the Georgia Certified Medication Aide Registry
- No record of being terminated for cause relating to the performance of medication aide tasks
- Current certification in medication administration
- Ability to submit written competency test and skills check-off list prior to assuming position
- Must successfully clear a background check, TB skin test or x-ray, and health screening
- Current CPR certification
- Current certificate of training for successful completion of the five (5) hour initial fire safety training provided by the Rules and Regulations of the Georgia Safety Fire Commissioner
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating procedures, policies and employee manuals
- Ability to write reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively in front of others
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy
- Must be proficient in English and able to read, write and follow instructions in English
- Demonstrates and knowledgeable of the Six (6) Rights of Medication Pass
- Must be able to work semi-independently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations
- Ability to work evenings, weekends and flexible hours when necessary to meet the needs of our residents
- Must be able to lift more than 25 lbs routinely
- Must be able to lift more than 50 lbs occasionally
- Must be able to transfer 150 lb. or greater resident weight
- Must be able to sit 1 - 3 hours/day
- Must be able to stand 4 - 5 hour/day
- Must be able to walk 2 - 4 hours/day
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and/or twist repeatedly throughout day
- Must be able to climb stairs repeatedly throughout day
- Must be able to reach 3 4 hours/day arms shoulder level
- Must be able to use telephone 1 - 2 hours/day
- Must be able to work under pressure 3 4 hours/day
- Must be able to work rapidly for long periods 2 - 3 hours/day
- Must have adequate finger dexterity
- Must have adequate hearing and vision (with or without correction)

- Ability to assist residents during activity programs, memory enhancement programs and performance improvement exercises
