Job Summary
Administer oral and topical medications as ordered by a physician under the supervision of a licensed nurse, adhering to state, federal regulations, and facility policy. Demonstrate knowledge of the five rights of medication administration and may take and record vital signs as assigned. Document all medication administration, treatments, and responses to PRN medications, while observing for and reporting any adverse reactions. Secure medication carts and rooms, manage narcotic accounts, and ensure proper disposal of expired medications. Perform observation rounds, supervise nursing assistants and orderlies, and maintain a clean, organized medication environment. Enforce abuse prevention policies and attend quality assurance meetings.
Required Qualifications
- State certification as a Nursing Assistant
- State approved medication administration certification
- Ability to read, write, and speak the English language
- Ability to function as a Team Leader/Role Model
- Has reviewed Cantex Continuing Care Networks Clinical Policies and Procedures for Abuse Prevention and knows the employee's responsibility to enforce it
- Responsible for assuring patient/resident safety
